The Clover alternative with no processor lock-in

NectarPay vs. Clover

Clover devices can't be used with other payment processors, and its terms depend on the bank or partner that sold it. NectarPay runs on Stripe Terminal: one set of terms, your own Stripe account, and readers that are yours.

Why counters switch from Clover

No processor lock-in

Clover hardware works only with Clover's processing. Stripe Terminal readers belong to your Stripe account and work with any Stripe software.

One set of terms

Clover is sold by thousands of banks and partners, each with its own contract. NectarPay is NectarPay, wherever you sign up.

Your items in an afternoon

Clover's item export carries names, prices, SKUs, product codes and quantities. Import it here and check the preview.

Bring everything over from Clover

1

Your items

In the Clover Dashboard, open Items, Item list. Choose Export from the menu beside the list; Clover exports the whole list.

In NectarPay, open Products, Import, and choose the file. Name, price, SKU, product code and quantity are matched for you.

2

Your customers

Open Customers, Customer list, and choose Download from the menu beside the list.

Open Customers, Import, and choose it. First and last names are joined, and anyone already here isn't added twice.

3

Your modifiers

Set up modifier groups in NectarPay, or import them from a spreadsheet.

Then sell on your first day with the stock you imported.

Before you cancel Clover

Check for an equipment lease

Some Clover equipment is leased rather than bought. Fiserv has described leases of 48 months that can't be cancelled, where returning the equipment doesn't end the lease. Read yours first.

Find who sold you Clover

Your contract is with the bank or partner that sold it, and its terms and any termination fee are theirs. Check the agreement before you give notice.

Export before you go

Download your item and customer lists while you still have access to the Clover Dashboard.

Switching from Clover: questions people ask

Can I use my Clover device with NectarPay?

No. Clover devices can't be used with other payment processors. NectarPay runs on Stripe Terminal readers, such as the Stripe Reader S700, the BBPOS WisePOS E and the Stripe Reader M2, and on Android tablets with Tap to Pay.

Can I bring my Clover items over?

Yes. Export your item list from the Clover Dashboard and import it under Products. NectarPay matches the name, price, SKU, product code and quantity columns and shows a preview before it saves anything.

Can I bring my Clover customers over?

Yes. Download your customer list and import it under Customers. First and last names are joined, and customers already in NectarPay aren't added twice.

Do I need my own Stripe account?

Yes, and it's yours. Connect the Stripe account you have, or open one from inside NectarPay; Stripe pays your sales out to your bank.

What if I'm still in a Clover lease?

Your lease may keep running after you stop using the equipment, so read its terms before you switch. NectarPay doesn't need your Clover hardware; you can start on a Stripe reader alongside it.
