The Shopify POS alternative built for the counter

NectarPay vs. Shopify POS

Shopify's card hardware needs Shopify Payments, and POS Pro's yearly plan can't be cancelled mid-term. NectarPay runs on Stripe Terminal, with your own Stripe account and readers that aren't tied to the software.

Why counters switch from Shopify POS

Your own payments account

Shopify's POS hardware works only with Shopify Payments. On NectarPay you connect your own Stripe account, or open one, and Stripe pays you out.

Readers that aren't locked in

Stripe Terminal readers belong to your Stripe account and work with any Stripe software, NectarPay or not.

Your Shopify file, as it is

NectarPay's product import reads Shopify's product export, old columns and new: titles, options, SKUs, barcodes, prices and quantities.

Bring everything over from Shopify POS

1

Your products

In Shopify admin, open Products and choose Export. Pick All products and the CSV for Excel, Numbers or another spreadsheet program.

In NectarPay, open Products, Import, and choose the file at the location its quantities belong to. Columns are matched for you; check the preview.

2

Your customers

Open Customers and choose Export, then the CSV. Shopify emails the file when you have more than 50 customers.

Open Customers, Import, and choose it. First and last names are joined, and anyone already here isn't added twice.

3

Your readers

Order Stripe Terminal readers from inside NectarPay.

Pair each one to a location, and take your first payment the same day.

Before you cancel Shopify POS

Check your POS Pro term

A yearly POS Pro plan can't be cancelled mid-term and renews on its own. Shopify needs notice at least 7 days before the term ends.

Cancel POS Pro per location

In the Point of Sale channel, open Settings, Subscriptions, and cancel POS Pro for each location.

Using a POS Go?

Shopify no longer sells it. Existing POS Go devices stop working in mobile mode on May 26, 2027.

Switching from Shopify POS: questions people ask

Can I use my Shopify card reader with NectarPay?

Can I bring my Shopify products over?

Yes. Export them from Shopify admin as a CSV and import it under Products. NectarPay reads Shopify's columns, old and new, and shows a preview before it saves anything.

Can I bring my Shopify customers over?

Yes. Export them as a CSV and import it under Customers. First and last names are joined, and customers already in NectarPay aren't added twice.
